What is the difference between Taekwondo and Karate? Taekwondo is often described as Korean Karate, and although it means way of hand and foot it places significant emphasis on kicking techniques. Some Schools of Taekwondo are recognised by the International Olympic Commission. As Martial Arts styles go the Yu-Bu-Kai sparring taught by Oxford School of Martial Arts, is also heavily kicking orientated.
