Oxford School of Martial Arts is rapidly expanding and we are always scouting for enthusiastic people with a good sense of initiative to come on board and support our mission to;

Train for excellence

To educate

To help people

To have fun

We are very proud of our ongoing leadership training scheme. Having more apprentice instructors means more attention for each child in class and is evidence that this association invests time in actually teaching people how to teach, rather than just assuming that, once a Black Belt, one suddenly develops the communication skills necessary to be a good teacher.

A four year-old in the foundation programme does not need the undivided attention of a 6th Dan: they need their belt tying (again), to be quietly reminded to concentrate on Sensei and to be taught how to mirror the movements of the person in front of them. They need a caring, professional to pick them up when they fall and encourage them to "think tough thoughts". We have met many Black Belt instructors whose teaching ability is negligible and as role models in a peace-orientated, health and fitness industry, their behaviour often leaves a lot to be desired!

If you would like to join the team as a volunteer, part-time or full time professional, call Mary at the office on 01865 370339

We are always interested to hear from people with existing skills in areas they feel may be of benefit to us. However, we are currently looking for volunteers to help us with charity fund raising and also a press officer and photographer.

Anyone looking for a career as a martial arts instructor should send a CV and covering letter to the office address. No prior martial arts experience is necessary however, applicants must be physically active and be willing to commit to a rigorous schedule of courses and classes in the martial arts and related fields.
